Managing Change in an Accreditation Project

It’s never easy to make changes, especially in the middle of an ongoing accreditation project. Nevertheless, some changes are necessary, and very often they need to be implemented fast. Wrong or ill-defined scope, an auditor with skills and experience not ideal for the job, audits that need to be rescheduled—all of these reasons can necessitate certain changes to an assignment.

Of course, you’re going to need a software that makes the entire modification process easier. Apart from that, consider the following tips to ensure you cover all bases as you implement your changes.

Communicate the change to all stakeholders

You need to inform everyone involved with the project about the change. People working on the project should be fully aware about the change and the reason behind it so they won’t end up working in the dark.

Update related documents

After relaying the change, you will need to document it. The documentation should be updated constantly so that everyone working outside the project will have access to current information. If not, uninformed decisions and assumptions can be the result, resulting in more errors, issues, and problems down the road.

Update schedules

After updating project documentation, it’s time to update your schedule. Review your agenda and evaluate it thoroughly in light of the changes so you can make updates as necessary.
